FEBRUARY 12TH

Just a quick little update. The main topic of conversation around here is the snow since we have had more this year than in many years past. Many people are loving it because of the skiing but many people are suffering as well since the road crews can't keep up and many people have been "trapped" in or out of their homes. Following are just a few photos for you.

My snow shoveling results. Two hours and a sore back later, we could get one car out of the garage. Where oh where was our snow clearing guy with the big, fancy clearing machine? He was stuck cuz they hadn't cleared the county road he lived on yet.

Many people became concerned about the weight of the snowload on roofs. An architect in the area published in the local paper that he had calculated his snowload at 61 lbs. per square foot. The current building code allows for 65 lbs. We decided that was close enough to give us worry should we have another heavy storm so we hired some guys to clear ours. Took 3 men 5 hours working solid to get it off of there then clear our windows afterwords. Soooo glad I didn't embark on that project myself!

A bit of the "droppings" as they worked. It's actually a bit more stacked now they are finished.

My Jeep in our driveway after David came by with the BIG machine to clear more than one lane. Sorry, it's rather dirty but there really is no point in washing it until June or so.

On a different note, Peg toodled down to Tucson for the International Gem & Mineral show, an annual event. She had a fabulous time and came home with some goodies - SURPRISE! She says she just didn't have time to take photos so you'll have to wait for her finished projects to see what prizes she found.

We want to wish Wade a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It was the 9th and I believe he was flying around the country during that time. If I'm not mistaken, he was in Palm Springs that day. He's coming here for a visit this week and we'll see about getting out in all that snow. More after his visit. Ta.
